Feral Paws Rescue

Saving Feral Cats

Hi! I would like to introduce  myself my name is Paula I have been a No Kill Advocate for the past 12 years. Currently working with my own non-profit program for the fight to save feral cats in harmsway. I have been in law enforcement for the past 24 plus years. We are working to help others understand the true meaning of a feral cat and feral cats just because some are wild they don't have to be killed. We have tamed so many of these so called untameable cats. It takes time to tame a feral.  But time well worth the effort. Please look over our website. We have many kittens and adult cats ready for adpotion. If you are interested in being a volunteers or adpotion of a kitten or cat. Please contact us via email. You can find our email link on our home page.

We are working with many rescue groups in helping the public to undertand the meaning of a feral cat and the TNR program. We also offer help to those people who are interested in starting a TNR program in their area. Feral cats don't need to be killed I can't express that enough. We do not support any program that kills feral cats.  We are backed by  the PETA and Alley Cats organizations and we work off of donations and volunteer help.  Email  any of your questions that you might have.   WE HAVE MANY CATS READY FOR ADOPTIONS.  Please help us to keep up our efforts in saving feral cats including the feral cats at Avenal State Prison

I have to quote a dear friend of mine that once told me this statement.  That I personally took very hard to understand at the time. But over my years of rescue of these feral cats now many years later. I can look back on her words and understand what she was telling me.  Her statement to me was " Paula you can't save all the feral cats. But be Thankful for the ones you could save"   That has been the hardest thing for me to expect that  I couldn't save all the feral cats I have came in contact over the years.  But I am so very thankful for all the ones that I have been able to save. I just won't expect anyone saying that a cat that is feral has to be killed.  That isn't true!  I will fight for the feral cats I come across  and the rights they have by law to be enforced.

Hi My Name is Paula.  My son Tim and I have been fighting for the feral cats in harmsway at Avenal State Prison for the past 10 years. We have a large setup on our premises for the rescued cats with kennels and lots of free safe room for them to roam in.

In the winter the kennels are heated and in the summer they are air conditioned. We have provided a large outside area for the cats to play in, enclosed with a chain link fence for their safety. You can learn more below and you will see many pictures of our facilities and the cats in the slide shows below.

Feral Paws is located in California.  We work hard to save feral cats in harms way and want to share this rescue site with you. Here you will see the feral cats that were rescued and how they now enjoy their life with us.  We have several huge kennels for ferals who are up for adoption. They have been tamed and have a clean bill of health.  The ferals that we weren't able to tame will live out their life on our  huge ranch free to roam with chain link fence all the way around with lots of rural area to be free and safe from harm. They also have barns and pastures to hunt and play in during the day.  There's lots of grass to lay in during the summer months, and in the winter when it is cold they stay inside.  The kennel building is heated during the winter and air conditioned during the summer. We have many feeding stations on the outside so they can eat whenever they are hungry. Of course...all the cats are spayed & neutered!

We also help others and instruct them how to care for feral cats and we work with many vets. We have many areas for visitors who want to just sit and watch the cats play during the day. We have volunteers that help with the caretakers for these special rescued feral cats. We have spent much time working on this program and working with feral cats. We do all this on donations to help save the feral cats and give them a chance to have a special home with someone that will care for them and love them as we do.

A feral cat is a special cat... one that has so much love in their heart once they are tamed.  It takes lots of time and trust to tame a feral cat. That is something that many people don't understand nor want to spend the effort to do.  They would just rather kill them.  We have a special area for our totally blind cats as well. We work with a lot of farmers and ranches that take our feral cats that we couldn't  tame to place on their ranch's to keep down the mice and etc. from getting into their feed supplies. We have set up this page to share with you some of our photos of the area which you will see in the slideshow.  Please help us help the cats and kittens. You'll find information about donating at the end of the page.

As you view this site you will learn that Feral Paws Rescue is all about the rescue of feral cats. That is why Alley Cats and Peta stand behind us. You will also see many happy stories about former ferals and their owners. And, you'll see some very sad stories as well.  We must stop the abuse of the feral cats on Avenal State Prison grounds.... and anywhere animal abuse is occurring.

This site will help to educate you on feral cats. It will explain why (TNR) Trap-Neuter-Return is so important. You will view photos of  feral cats that have been trapped the wrong by there prison causing injury.  We have over the past six years (TNR) Trap-Neuter-Return over 400 feral cats. Adult cats/kittens 300 have been tamed and placed into loving homes. This program has been so successful over the past six years. But could not of been done with out all the hard work of the volunteers and donations of food and supplies and veterinarians care and cash donations.

Our site is designed to help you understand what a feral cat/kittens are all about. And why (TNR) Trap-Neuter-Return is so important in the life of a feral cat. Many don't understand what a feral cat is all about.  A domestic cat is a house cat you may have in your home. A feral cat is from a totally different world of learning how to survive on their own. I have learned over the past six years humans fear them as much as they fear humans. But I do believe that humans fear them for they don't understand them. They fear humans for the way humans react to them. But once you build that bond of trust between the two of you. Its a reward of love you can only understand once you understand the feral cat. Don't get me wrong... it takes time to build that bond of trust. Every life is precious.  The most important part of this site has to do with the abuse of the feral cats that is taking place at  Avenal State Prison.
