THIS WAS ONCE UPON A TIME... WE NO LONGER GET CAT FOOD DONATIONS THAT WE ARE IN NEED OF GETTING !
When the cat program and the TNR was at Avenal State Prison this is the type of donations of food we would get monthly to care for the cats on prison grounds. Supply's was kept in a office area on prison 
grounds set up for the cats only! This was approved by Warden Rawers and kept in full force with all other wardens after Warden Rawers. Until Warden Kathy Mendoza-Powers!!!!!!! Kennels and all supply's were kept in this one location. Only staff approved for the cat program were allowed into this area. The cat food and supply's didn't cost the prison, State of California, Department of Corrections one dollar Staff running the TNR cat program at Avenal State Prison would contact venders and different store's asking for donations of cat food and supply's for the cats on prison grounds. The out coming of the hard work and effort for the donations was just unreal with all the donations of food and supply's given to the cat program at Avenal State Prison! Feral Traps, Feeding stations, supply's bowls, water bowls and containers, can food, dry food, kennels, cat carrier's etc... was being donated. As well as the cost of the vets doing the TNR was doing this with out any cost for the cats being TNR or medical needs at the time. All cats were TNR and given a rabies vaccination, and ear tipped plus tested for any feline diseases ALL 
tested healthy from Avenal State Prison. The vets were amazed with how healthy this size of a feral colony was! Not one cat test caring any feline diseases! Over 401 cats were TNR at no cost to the prison, State of California, Department of Corrections. Even any other medical needs from a vet was all done with out cost to anyone.When we added it up over the six years of the TNR program at Avenal State Prison the donations dollars was over $85,000 plus!
