We have supported your fight to save the feral cats at Avenal State Prison in California We are still standing strong for your cause in helping the feral cats on prison grounds. Who is responsible? The vast majority of these cats are not killed by  cruel individuals. They are killed because of an antiquated animal control system. Feral cats are not socialized to  humans. They are not candidates  for adoption into homes. To put them into an animal control  system is to hand these animals a death sentence. A recent Alley Cat Allies national survey conducted by Harris Group reveals that an overwhelming  majority of Americans — 81% — believes that leaving a stray cat outside to live out his life is more humane than having the cat caught and killed. And despite the  public’s humane ethic, feral and stray cats are still being  killed because of the operating policies of most U.S. animal pounds and shelters.
