When viewing this page use CAUTION as many of these photos are disturbing!  These are photos of some of the cats that have been trapped on the  Avenal State Prison grounds at the orders of the Warden by staff at the prison who are not trained to properly trap feral cats!  This inhuman and cruel practice has been addressed at the Warden's level..... but again nothing has been done by the Warden's office to stop this cruel method of trapping that is continuously going on with the feral cats on prison grounds. Please help us stop this. Please speak for the cats who can not speak for themselves by contacting the proper authorities and making your voice heard. Below you see a kitten that had its little leg torn off due to the improper trapping and rough handling by  prison personnel.

 This is just a few of the photos of cats/kittens  left in traps for days and hours with out food or water and were fighting in the trap for their lifes. Causing many to be injuired. I can't put all the photos of the cats injuired on this web site. Their is way to many photos of these cats/kittens injuired.

This will give you a idea to what these cats/kittens on Avenal State Prison Grounds are going through in fighting to stay alive at the hands of untrained staff trapping the feral cats/kittens and just leaving them in the traps for days until the rescue volunteers are told about them and pick them up!  Once they are picked up we rush them to Abby Vet Hospital in Fresno 72 miles from the prison. There is a volunteer vet standing by to get medical treatment to them right away.! THIS IS ALL AT THE HANDS OF WARDEN KATHY MENDOZA-POWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 
 
This feral trap contained a feral cat trapped on prison grounds. When the untrained staff lost this trap off the truck, They backed up to pick up the trap and cat inside running over the trap causing the cat inside the trap to be injured.  Photos in the slideshow tell the true story of what happens at Avenal State Prison to the feral cats on grounds. Remember pictures are worth a thousand words!

  You will see a photo of a trash can that cat and her three kittens were put into to die. Until someone found them and called us to come and get them prior them.  You will also see her and her three babies in a photo that was taken after she was rescued.    You will also see a kitten that got its let torn off because it was in a trap and tossed into a back of a truck ripping its little leg off.

                      

May 11, Trapped At Avenal State Prison Left In Trap Over 24 Hours! Caused Head Injuries

This cat was in a trap for close to 24 hours Was trapped on May 10  In the afternoon. Wasn't called about this cat until May 11  late afternoon. This cat is currently at abby vet hospital. Did have cuts on his forehead from being in the trap way to long.
Has been now placed into a apoted home on May 18 . Released into a Feral Colony with Caregivers! Wonderful News! He also had many toes on his front paws. We found to be very interesting with this Feral cat removed from the prison. Something we haven't been seeing in the past with the removed Feral cats from Avenal State Prison.
