THANK YOU! From all the Volunteers of Feral Paws Rescue! Most of all from all the special Kittens/Cats below that have been placed into loving homes!
On November CBM (Crooked Back Momma) was adopted into a loving home. In fact CBM was well known at Avenal State Prison. She lived on Facility Two. She is totally Feral. Staff & Inmates always looked out for her. For she was crippled in her back area. She had a very strange walk to her. That caused her to walk very slowly and she was always by her self. Never seen with other cats. As if they knew she was crippled and didn't want anything to do with her. Medical staff always went out to her and made sure she was fed daily. So many wanted to take her home. But she was trap smart and to trap her was just something that wasn't going to happen.
When the TNR stopped at the prison in February . The prison was starving her to death. When I got CBM in a trap in August. She was half dead. She is a older cat that has lived her life at the prison. I was contacted by one of the staff at the prison that cared for her. They just learned that I had her. They wanted to Adopt her.
I explained that she was near death when I got her from the prison. She had went under care of Dr. LeBeuf at Kings Canyon Veterinary Hospital. She had to have alot of her hair shaved for it was a mess. She was then spayed and put on medication. She was so starved, and dehirated. She needed much care. I am so happy to say she was placed with a staff member from Avenal State Prison on November. This is the place she belongs! To live her life with someone that cared so much about her. When I drove up and gave her to this person. They just cried couldn't believe that they were getting to adopt her. This is a very happy story or a very special cat.
One of the volunteers that picks up the kittens and cats from Avenal State Prison got a phone call at 8:30am on 11/14 from the wardens office regarding a kitten. That was in front of the prison on HWY 33 staff reported that the kitten was on the road way and staff was trying to miss hitting the kitten. I went out to the prison and picked up the kitten. He is totally tame. The inmates that were caring for the kitten named him "Raidar" he is totally black in color. He was taken to Abby Vet to be checked out. He is way to young to test or TNR him at this time. When give food mixed with a little water. He ate like a pig. He is able to be adpoted at this time. If any one would like to adopt him can contact feralpawsrescue@worldnet.att.net We will keep you updated on this cute little guy.

Just to give view of a few relocated cats from Avenal State Prison. That have been relocated to a ranch. We go out to the ranch to drop off dry/wet food three times a month. That has 89 barns with live stock on it.
Today in going out to the ranch to leave cat food. The cats that have been relocated to this ranch. All that I see. When I go out to the ranch look heathly and well fed. This is more on a happy note. Then the many horrible storys about the cats still at Avenal State Prison.
I understand in talking to several people at the ranch. Many of the cats are becoming very tame. Some have been taken off the ranch and placed into loving homes.
It made me feel good inside my heart. To know at least the cats here on this ranch are safe and being well taken care of. That is a great feeling, With all the hard work that is going into saving these cats from Avenal State Prison. At least we know that all the cats on the ranch.
