Feral Paws Rescue

 

      On February 2, 2006 The person that was working on the TNR cat program at Avenal State Prison received a phone call from the prison. Tell them that Warden Kathy Mendoza-Powers had STOP!!!! the TNR program at the prison and all the items are to be removed from the prison dealing with the cat program. All the feeding stations that had been in place through out the prison for the past six years were being picked up and NO FOOD or WATER was allowed to be given to the cats on grounds. These cats depended on the feeding station for the past six years and now being pulled from them with any food to eat or clean water to drink!!!!!!!

   This person was reassured that none of the items dealing with the cat program would be destroyed. On February 3, 2006 I personally went out to the prison to help with the removal of the items belonging to the TNR program Kennels and feeding stations, food dry and wet, water bowls, food bowls, feral traps, and all other supply's on grounds.

   On February 3, 2006 this is what we found! All the items from the cat program tossed into two large trash bins. With a sign on the side of the trash bins saying "Don't Dump"After almost a month of phone calls to the Wardens office trying to get these items out of the trash bins. Calling Sentor Dean Flores that is the Sentor for that area. The prison had the trash bins dumped right their and this is what we found when we went out their to pick up the items out of the trash bin!  All the Feeding Stations Destroyed!!!!!! All the Cat Food Dry and wet all destroyed!!!!!!!  All the food bowls, water bowls all destroyed!!!!

Of course not one of the kennels or cat carriers, feral traps  were to be found!  Still to this date. These items haven't been returned to the person that was to pick up all the cat program items.  These items were approved to be on prison grounds since the start of the  TNR cat program six years back. These items didn't belong to the State of California, Department of Corrections, Avenal State Prison! Warden Kathy Mendoza-Powers knew this!  This was so uncalled for to destroy these items and the food! What kind of person is Warden Kathy Mendoza-Powers ??????  There was only and handful of items that would be saved! The prison said this wasn't going to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again more lie's from the prison officials in charge!
